Golcar is a village on a hillside crest in the area of West Yorkshire. It sits above the Colne valley in the metropolitan borough of Kirklees. Situated 3 miles to the west of Huddersfield and just North of the river Colne it has a population (2021) of 18’275 residents.

The area was an important centre for weaving during the Industrial revolution and many cottages were built for the weavers from the late 18th century until the 1840s. Many of these properties are still in residential use today.
